School holiday movie again

We make it a point to take Nicole out for movies during her school holidays. Just the 3 of us.

As usual, Nicole was especially well behaved the night before. We were half an hour early and so we got ourselves something to munch. We sat down comfortably at one corner to consume her favourite multi-grain cheese pancake and a cup of warm fragrant soya bean drink. Thereafter, it was show time! A 3D movie! Since her visit to Disneyland last year, Nicole has not had any other experiences on 3D movies and we thought this would be a great opportunity. Quite evidently, we were wrong! She was afraid of the objects flying around her and she watched 80% of the movie without the 3D glasses!

Then it was another treat to her favourite Japanese restaurant. Look at that football bowl! Ethan would have loved it too. Not so much what's inside but what's outside! :)

My little "hands" keeper

After filling our stomachs with a full selection of korean cuisine, we took a short stroll home. Lawrence and I were walking ahead of Nicole and Granny. Usually, Lawrence would rest his arms on my shoulder as we walk but not this time. Based on past experiences, such action would cause immense resentment from Nicole as she is super possessive over me, somehow.

We overheard nicole whispering to Granny :-

Nic " Popo, look at them. Papa does not put his hands on mommy's shoulder anymore. They are not in love in anymore..." (giggling away)

Reacting to her remarks, Lawrence stretched his arms over.

Nic " No Papa! HANDS OFF! You can not put your hands on mummy's shoulder. Keep your hands to yourself!! " (really firing at Lawrence, with a hyterical screech)

We all just had a good laugh at the little nosey "hands" keeper :)

Junkie treat

A "junkie" treat for Nicole => Nothing but sugar and carbs!

But it did bring about a megawatt smile on her face though!

Nicole " Mummy, this is really once in a blue moon and not once in a yellow moon because the moon is always yellow! "

Chub got to eat the corn flakes and a pinch of meat floss. That alone made his day! :)

Noble chicky papa

Another masterpiece of Nicole.
The under nourished rooster and the overfed chicks :)

Joint birthday celebration

Melody, 6 and Jossiah, 2 celebrated their birthdays together. The pair of siblings had a great poolside party. Melody was very happy and excited about her party until her cake was acciddentally ruined. One of her friends stepped on the box (left on the floor) containing the cake ! Oh No!

Chub was so thrilled when he spotted the real toy cars on the cake and insisted on having one. So, I had to politely make a special request for one orange car to be "released" after the cake cutting ceremony.

Nicole was nowhere to be seen as she was hiding under the shelter, far away from the sun and the heat. - Like mother like daughter, I guess :( ). She was just waiting for the cake to be distributed and she brought her share home to enjoy in the air-cond dining room instead :(

Good husbands

Nicole and I were in bed. As I was about to doze off, she turned and made a statement so intriguing that I drifted back from my dream land to reality instantly.

Nic “ Mummy, I am going to marry a good husband”
Me “ Excuse me, when are you getting married and what do you know of a good husband?”
Nic “ When I grow up!”
Me “ How do you know if he is a good husband?”
Nic “ Hmm. I know. Papa and gong-gong are good husbands”
Me “ hahaha, What makes you think they are good husbands?”
Nic “ because they listen to women!”

I just couldn’t continue the dialog upon hearing her last statement! J

Little Rabbit

I was looking very hard at this masterpiece.

Is the rabbit sitting on a mat? Or is the rabbit floating in the sea with one carrot left to survive for many more days to come till he is spotted by a big ship? :)

Another piece of abstract art?

I didnt quite guess what the painting was all about and so I asked the artist.

Nic " children playing at the waterfall!"
Me "Oh, ya! It's kind of too abstract for me :)"

Exotic pizza

Chub's first treat of pizza and it was an exotic treat! It was no ordinary hawaiian pizza. It was peking duck pizza! Cool heh? Bet the Italians will roll their eyes upon seeing their national dish being turned into an Asian pancake!

We met up with Uncle Bun and Auntie Elaine and it would have been a perfect get-together if not for the superdee active Chub who wanted to repeatedly "visit" the 2 big Golden Retrievers "parked" outside the restaurant by the owners.

Chub was brave enough to touch the doggie's ears and tails. The dogs were huge relative to Chub. Chub could almost have a ride on it. It would be a good size pony to Chub :)

Meanwhile, Nicole was holding a good conversation with Auntie Elaine who was so kind to keep her occupied while I chased Chub around the restaurant - all because it was Auntie Rose's off day.

Fighting over toys

Both kids were crowding around papa while he tried to assemble the remote control electrical car. It was a pretty cool toy as it allowed for manual intervention on the movement of the car using a remote control. This's useful in ensuring that the kids dont drive the car into some delicate furnitures.
Before the car was ready for use, there was already a fiece argument between the two.
Ethan " Ethan's car, Ethan's car"
Nic " No! It's mine. I got here first"
Ethan " No No. Mine, Mine" (going on and on with tears rolling down his cheek)
When the car was ready, Nicole swiftly deposited herself into the car and drove off leaving Ethan chasing behind.
Ethan " Ethan;s turn! Ethan;s turn! Wa- wa- wa!" (crying and screaming)
Eventually when Nicole let go, she pasted her name all over the car again! See those stickers? Now the house is full of bulky toys, 2 cars, 1 motor bike, 1 bicycle, 1 scooter, just to name a few plus we recently bought a piano for Nicole! We have to hide all the smaller toys under the stairs to make more space!

Spoilt for choices!

Little Chub couldn't decide which pair of shoes to wear and this is the end result! :)

Regular customer?

Nicole's 2nd visit to the nail spa.

This time we brought Grandma along. Being a "regular", Nicole briefed grandma of the procedures.

Nic "Popo, first, you need to remove your shoes. Then you sit here. The lady will ask you to soak your feet in the basin. They wont soak my feet. I am just a little girl. Then, you can choose your nail colors. I show you the colours......etc etc "

The pedicurists had a good laugh at the " junior receptionist", receiving her first customer :)

Imaginary play

While Jie Jie was busy practising her free style strokes, Ethan busied himself with his pool set, by whipping up a good meal for Jie Jie. :)
Ethan has always enjoyed imaginary play. He would pretend to go grocery shopping by
carrying his bag and waiving good bye to me.
Ethan " Mummy, I am going shopping. Ethan is going to buy apples and bananas" (while getting into his toy car)
Ethan " Give Ethan money"
Ethan " Ethan park the car here. At the car park"
etc etc
It is such a joy watching him directing his own play!

Free and Easy

A free and easy output!
Nicole claimed that she did everything on her own, including the choice of colours. I was indeed very pleased with her creativity!

House warming gathering

It was a long overdue gathering!

Sharon has moved into the neighbourhood and we meant to meet up with 2 other friends a long time ago but just didnt get around to doing it.

It seemed that there were two self-formed playgroups at the gathering. Caleb, Sarah and Sofia played together really well though the twin girls are 18 months older than the boy, while Ethan and Nicole were in their own playworld climbing and bouncing on the sofa.
It was at this party that I learnt the recipe for making Japanese pancakes. Since then, I have been having Japanese pancakes for breakfast almost every other day till I got tired of it!
