Yellow belt green tip

Another milestone for N. She successfully completed 3 stages of Taekwondo grading starting from white belt to Yellow belt green tip. She is aiming for green belt this coming Octocber.

The instructor commented that as N goes further up, she would need to literally practise the patterns and stunts which N has never attempted to from day 1 though she would diligently show up every Thurday for lesson and that is pretty much all her effort :( I feel that it is important for children to be equipped with the basic self defence skills especially in today's society. I would encourage N to go as far as she wishes to.....

Sumptous breakfast

One of those days when I was working while L was on leave. He would take Nic out for a sumptuous breakfast though not exactly very healthy. Well, so long as it is not a frequent affair, I will just let it go....Bonding time I suppose..

Baking Class

N was totally engrossed in reading her recipe. A recipe to bake her favourite cookies!

N and I registered for a parent and child baking class during the school holiday and it was all worth my effort and time to rush back from the office, just for a 2 hour lesson.

It was a real hands-on experience for her. She got to roll the dough and mould the cookies. When the cookies were ready, the pair were seen dividing the cookies into equal numbers. It was enlightening to see how they negotiated the deal. :)

The highlight was of course the docoration session. The kids dipped their cookies into as much chocolate as the cookies could possibly shoulder! They also learnt to dress their animal cookies up using liquid chocolates which was the most interesting part of the entire baking lesson.
The happiest moment was none other than tasting the fruit of their "hard work"!

Fun race

My little girl participated in the fun race for kids below the age of 7. All the eager junior runners received a medal each and that was the moment all were waiting for!

Thunder Cats

This was my favourite childhood cartoon series and now E has grown to adore it too. Very often, we would hear him saying “ I am Lion-O, Lord of the Thunder Cats! HOOOR….”

N would deliberately disagree with him “ No, Ethan, you cant be Lion-O! You are so small. You are just a little pussy cat”

E “ No!! I am not a pussy cat! I am Lion-O!. I have the sword!” (showing us his little toy knife in protest)

In order not to agitate him further, we would just agree with him.

Quietly N would whisper “ That is not a sword. It is just a little kitchen knife. Hahaha”

How cute is little E!

Who wants papa?

Again, the 2 were fighting, fighting over their parents, this round.

N " Mummy is mine!"
E " No, Mummy is mine. Papa is yours"
N " No, you can have papa, Mummy is mine!"
E " No, you take papa, I take mummy!"

When I conveyed above to L, he lamented " nobody wants me :) "

Me " Ya, you are an unwanted commodity. If I were you, I would start looking out for better quality old folks home now. "

He gave me a dirty look for speaking the truth :( Well, this is the consequence for teasing and annoying the kids every so often.

The King and I

See what N was trying to do to E? She was trying to dress him up as the King using her own tiara while she assumed the role of the Queen! Poor E was happy to be wrapped up in a nappy too! It was such a sweet moment seeing them play harmoniously together :)

Ballet

Holding her certificate, N ran towards me. I could see that she wanted me to be proud mummy. She scored well in all the categories and I was told that she was one of the top achievers.
Good job, baby!

Spa?

It all started with L playing with the kids in the bedroom. He tickled E so much that he threw up all over the bedroom. Needless to mention, L was shooed out of the bedroom instantly. N went along to check out the dripping mess as L dragged his soiled body out of the bedroom.

Poor Rose had a tough job to handle. Bed sheets had to be changed, quilt cover to be removed, floor to be mopped etc. While the bedroom was filled with activities, the 3 were sitting at the sofa, waiting to be “invited” into the air-conditioned bedroom again.

L “Nicole, are you feeling warm? Your face is all rosy”
N “ What do you think? I AM HAVING A SPA RIGHT HERE, IN MY PYJAMAS!”
L “ Sorry!”

Does N really know what a SPA is? I wonder….

Whose mummy?

My 2 kids are very possessive over me. Once, they had an argument.

E “ This is my mummy”
N “ No, this is MY mummy”
E” No! No! Not yours, it’s mine. You can not hold mummy’s hand. Mummy can only carry me”
N “ No way! This is my mummy! You walk on your own!”

Me “ Now listen. You both have the same mummy!”

It just went on and on….till E cried…. :(

To look pretty

Is it a sign of maturity or vanity?

N came to me with a request.

N " Mummy, bring me to the teeth doctor"
Me " Ha, What is a teeth doctor?"
N " A dentist"
Me " Why do you need to see a dentist?"

N " See ? my new teeth? they are crooked. I need to wear braces"

Me " Haha. You only have 2 new teeth and it takes time for the rest to sprout. What is there to be aligned at this point in time?"

N " I just want to look pretty"

To look pretty at 5?? Who is N trying to charm? The boy next door? heehee...
