Graduation concert hostess

N came to me, with a megawatt smile displayed on her face.

N “ Mummy! Zhou Laoshi selected me to be the year end graduation concert hostess”

Me “ Wow! That is absolutely superb! You must have done a good job to impress your teacher!”

N “ Ya, I guess so. Do you know what I am going to say on stage?”

Me “ Well, let me guess :- qin ai de baba mama, da jia wan shang hao, wo shi k2 he ping ban de hong xiang yuan...

N “ Mummy! How did you guess? Did Zhou Laoshi tell you?” (I surely did impress my little girl of my “intelligence” J. It doesn’t take a genius to guess the opening speech correctly, right? J )

N is such a sweetheart and her expressions are simply so lovable!

E's prayer

Right before bedtime, we were giving thanks to God. E was quick to chip in.

E " Mummy, tell God I will share my sweet with him for healing me"
Me " Why dont you tell Him yourself"
E " Alright. Dear God and dear Jesus, thank you for healing me. I am not coughing anymore. So, I can eat my sweets now and I want to share them with you. "

I was so touched by his sincerity!

First Time Baking

First time baking for Nic and I. We invited Shan over and the 3 musketeers had a good time together!

I prepared the dough and the kids moulded the cookies. They had such fun creating their own special oatmeal chocolate walnut cookies! Needless to mention, they tasted superb, at least to their own taste buds! See the satisfaction on their face? Cookies + milk = Great?

We also experimented with a prune and cashew nut cake. It turned out very much edible and in fact, it was pretty good. Well, at least the kids loved it :)
We shall try more recipes!

Skating Camp

First day at the skating venue! First ever lesson for Nic. She was all excited! All geared up and ready to charge!
On the first day, she fell at least 20 times within the 3 hour lesson! She was totally worn out! She snoozed right after her shower for a good 3 hours which has not happened since she was 1!
On day 2, she made signficant progress. She was able to propell forward and she was happy with her own achievement.
On day 3, gliding forward appeared to be an effortless gesture after 2 days of intensive training.
On the last day, she seemed to be a pro and was seen"chasing" after her friends in the skating ring. The hardwork has paid off eventually! Now, she is able to skate fairly confidently though there are still plenty of other skills and tricks to learn. She has merely completed the begininer's program!

Unfair competition

We bought some flower pots, big and small, seeds, watering can and soil. We wanted to grow some organic vegetables just for a fun experience. N planted some chye sim but I preferred lady’s fingers. A week into the “competition”, N called me in the office.

N “ Mummy, I have something to tell and I bet, you wont be too happy to hear about it”
Me “ Ha, what is it now? “
N “ 2 of your plants have kind of died. They collapsed. They are so tall but skinny like a stick. They can’t stand up too well. Mine are growing well. They are short but they didn’t collapse like yours. Hahaha. I win”

Me “ That is unfair. Can you ask Auntie Rose to tie a chopstick next to the plant?”
N “ No No. No way. “

See how cheeky she is!

N's 6th birthday

Since the day I told N about her birthday celebration, she has been quietly and diligently counting down, sticking a numeral on the calendar everyday. On the Sunday, she rose bright and shine though she went to bed pretty late the night before. I could see that she was already beaming with excitement. I took her for a swim and before long, it started to rain. She didn’t make a fuss which was unusually rare given that we were barely in the pool for a mere 10min duration.

Of course, N gotta work for her birthday party. She had to practise her piano pieces which she did pretty well with the carrot dangling right ahead.

Thereafter, for the following 1.5 hours, she had a fabulous time catching up with her friends at the party. It was also a time for me to catch up with my friends too. The kids grow up together and they attend one another’s parties.

With no surprises, the kids all gathered around the small table just to be the first to catch a glimpse of the cake when the party hostess was trying to remove the cake from the box. N was very pleased with the cake. I fell in love with it too :).

We sang the “happy birthday song” 3 times – English version : First for N and then for Chloe who has the same birthday as N. Every year, without fail, N and Chloe would meet up on their birthday as they have been friends since the first day of birth. The kids rounded it up with the Mandarin version. Thereafter, very obediently, they went back to their respective seats, waiting to be served their favourite dish.

Soon, it was time to bid farewell. All were happy kids and needless to mention, N was the happiest of all :). She still had a second round of joy in unwrapping all her presents. :)
