Nicole went to the library with Auntie Rose and she picked a few books, one of which was titled "Granny".We were reading the book together and it caught Nicole's attention when we read about the "tok tok cheng" Chinese opera. She was so inqusitive and asked many questions. When we finally finished reading the book which ended with a sad closure, Nicole's mood was very much affected. As cheeky as she can be, there is still this soft spot in her. I was rather touched by Nicole's strong sentiment and remark.

Coincidentally, there was a Chinese opera staged not far from our place last night and Nicole insisted on watching it. And guess what, with no understanding of the play whatsoever, (it was in teowchew if I was not mistaken), she sat and watched for a good half hour :). She was the youngest audience amongst all the grandmothers and grandfathers! I certainly felt a little out of place :)
