N has a pretty good memory bank and it is a selective memory bank solely by her choice only :(
She was told to learn her timestable (multiple of 7) and "tinxia" (13 words " live", "Jungle", "wolf", "black claw", " move forward", "hit", "noice", "flour") last week. She refused to lay her eyes on them for even a second until last night.
Nic" Mummy, I have "tinxia" test tomorrow and timestable too"
Me " Very well. Have you learnt them?"
Nic " No. I dont want to learn. I want to watch TV"
Me "Ok, then you will have to explain to your teachers tomorrow"
Nic " FINE! I will just do it now. Can you give me a piece of paper? You sit next to me and teach me "bi hua" " (meaning, sequence of strokes in writing the chinese characters). (while giving me that impatient and agitated look)
Within a span of 7 minutes, all the 13 words were nicely registered in her memory bank. Shortly after, the timestable was also captured, partially because she was exposed to it at a much younger age when I was full time stay at home mom. (She only memorised the end product - 7 ,14, 21, 28 etc etc).
I think I am the one who is more likely to get a heart attack, seeing how Nicole tackles her work. Always so last minute and with that much of enthusiasm :( Sigh.
Do you have any such problems with your 5 y.o. too?
