Nicole and her sense of fashion!

I was getting myself ready to go out and meet with a friend. Nicole was as usual, buzzing around me.

Nic " mom, I think you should use the lip balm. It makes you look pretty..and the lipstick too"
Me " You mean I am not pretty now?"
Nic " Well, may be...and may be not"
Me " Well, Ok, then I will apply some."
Nic " This t-shirt is too big for you. The color is boring"
Me " Oh really, but I guess it is ok."
Nic " How about this one? This is more colorful"
Me " Nicole, could you leave me alone please?"....

Nicole was so nosey and I just had to cut her off before she got onto my nerve :()

Hi Contentedmom, how old did you say your Nicole is? First it's her friend telling her, she telling you that you look sexy.
And now her fantastic fashion sense? Holy Smoke, you got a young beauty consultant in the family, and I was right saying beauty runs in your family.

I look at it this way, your daughter thinks you look gorgeous if you try or use her recommendations, ha ha. Imagine, she younger you dressed her up, now she wants to dress her mummy up, ha ha.

She didn't ask you to wear a mini skirt or stretch slacks and t-shirt? Husband will panic think wrong woman at home, arhaaa ha ha.

You know Contentedmom, I think that is a compliment she wants you to look fabulous...she obviously sees you as a beautiful mother, (me too, ahemmm)...why not next day make her day, listen to her young advice and pakai what she recommends...ahhh, then she can go to school, tell that cheeky 4 year old her mom is one real, cool, sexy cat, whooohooo!
You have a digital camera with you, right? Ha ha,...hint, hint, *wink*.

You stay beautiful Contentedmom, and don't forget the lip gloss.
By the way...you wear sarong kebayas?
Have a nice day, Lee.

Hey Contentedmom...hey...you are still young, and why worry what others think? Eyecatching? It certainly is. You have the looks, the figure, so go ahead. (Subject to your hubby's approval, of course, ha ha)

You know, we went back to KL many years back and attended a big wedding at Sunway River or Lagoon.
Anyway, it was a millionaire's son getting married...
100 tables too.

But practically every woman wore those long evening dresses.....and apart from the colors, the dresses all look the same....but! There were two women among the hundreds who wore sarong kebayas, the modern version...

One was a gorgeous lady about 35 with a body to die for too and she sure gave a lot of men neck pains and bruised thighs from their wives pinching them looking at her in her figure hugging sarong.

Other one? My wife, she was 56 then and still looks the same as I met her more than 3 decades ago with still a fabulous figure, long hair...and still gorgeous even today.

She wore a slinky. black sarong and red laced blouse and more husbands got neck pains and bruised thighs....
This much I will say, both of the ladies outshone everyone else, include the younger ones too as all had similar long dresses.
And I know, both my wife and other lady received lots of compliments, and even from our BILS's and men friends too.

To digress...when I decided to end my bachelor's days it was a moonlight night in Penang and she sitting on the seawall at rear of E&O hotel in a dazzling blue, high slit cheong sum....where I presented her a bouquet of a dozen red roses, but only 11 were real ones...one was made of silk, and I told her I will love her till the last one dies.

(I posted a pic of the silk rose still in a vase, few days ago, but have taken it off, 3rd replacement as original got chewed up by my dog, 2nd one faded, she replaced this one 8 years ago).

She can still wear that same cheong sum today, brought it here.
Anyway, what I mean to say is, this my personal opinion...a woman looks very beautiful and alluring in a sarong or cheong sum.

She wears her sarong sometimes when shopping and oh boy, does she get admiring glances and smiles from other ladies, men too.

I always motivate, encourage my wife to be different, telling her 'you are young only once'...she's 62 this year....still looks good in a sarong too.

But again, I also believe to each his or her own.
Oh ya, my wife or girlfriend that time caught my eye when she wore a sarong. I shouldn't have looked twice, ha ha....kena sangkut permenantly, ha ha.
I'm sure you look fabulous in a sarong or cheong sum, Contentedmom. You have a nice day, Lee.

hi U lee,

If only my husband is so open minded :(...he thinks that I should wear something simple and conservative..sigh... i do agree that kebaya and cheong sums will make us stand out at a ball whereby everyone practically and typically wears a black gown... we should be proud of our tradition and carry our costumes down to our next generation!...cheers

hi rachel,

absolutely! husbands will only rush us with nothing constructive, isnt it?...have a good day~

hey.. kids can be downright very frank too. when you dress up nice they will compliment you right on spot. there was a time when i put on a dress that i bought for years and not worn before. my youngest saw it first time and just exclaimed, "Mummy! you look so pretty!" It was just so nice of her. Made me so happy indeed. I believe your Nicole is my Lea's age. She's a July child this year 4 years.
