Quite clearly Nic wasnt ready for any proper badminton game, let alone a tournament. Notwithstanding, I was persuaded to register her, just for an experience. Her opponent was probably another P2 girl from a different school. It was ticklish seeing how they played.
Nic served the shuttle over and instead of hitting it back, her opponent caught it with her hand for she thought it was her turn to serve. The umpire was speechless seeing the pair :) He had to constantly remind them to switch position.
Nic served again but this time, she caused the boy in the other court to lose a point. You wonder why? Her shuttle flew to the other court and the boy didnt know which one to catch! The spectators were kind enough not to laugh aloud.
Nic won the first game and proceeded to the next. When I saw her second opponent, I knew she meant business! She came with a private coach and was professionally attired!! Wow! Impressive. Nic had a taste of playing with a pro and she was happy to leave thereafter. The court was extremely stuffy and warm. Even I needed to get out for some fresh air, from time to time.
Well, I would say, it was a nice experience for Nic and I am confident, she would be ready to play again in 6 months.
