The last step to basic maths - Division.
After a couple of lessons with Nicole, she now has a fair idea of division. She knows that it is the "opposite" to multiplication. I taught her to use "reverse multiplication" to solve the division problems and she seemed to understand the trick.
I guess the next stage for her would be the descriptive problems. This would show if she has really understood it. My next project with Nicole!

Wow!~ U still hv time to teach nicole after start work!~ Bravo!
I've got a feeling your girl is going to 'tiao-ban' ~ maybe from Primary 1 jump to Primary 3!!! Will see...
With her, so far ahead from her peers... I wonder will she get bored in school?!
I have the same thought as Angeline. Will she get bored? LOL!
Will you be sending Nicole to a local primary school? I thought local schools do not permit skipping grades.
wow..really tabik u division is normally taught in Primary school? n now u r teaching nicole when she is only 4??????
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year to you and family.
Oh my ..... Nicole really picking things up real fast. You really did a great job in coaching Nicole. I just hope that she will not get bored when she enters into primary school :) Good job mommy and Nicole, she really impressed me :)
Dear all,
I do share the same concern. Nicole enjoys doing maths and I just move along. Her school principal suggested to move her to K2 in 2009, seeing that she is indeed bored in class and she may just have to repeat K2 if she can't move on to P1 in 2010 ( i.e. if we decide to let her attend a local primary school)
We do have a choice to go to an international school here but I would prefer her to attend a mainstream primary school because I want her to build a good chinese foundation. We will seriously think about it when it comes.
A blessed new year to all!
Agree with the rest. Nic is real advanced for her age. She will surely get bored in Primary 1 in future.
Have you considered sending her to international school now instead of going to K2? The curriculum in K2 is really not much more difficult than K1.
Hi HFM, DG,
It didnt cross my mind. We dont want to overkill her interest in learning. Nicole may just appear too "childish" for the P1 kids. Knowing how prideful she is, she may not take it well. So for the time being, we thought we would just let her be a pre-schooler still. She enjoys all her excursions and more importantly the "junky" party food in school :)
Hi DG,
How about Marcus? Will you enrol him at an international school too, when the time comes?
Cheers
U've got a Maths genius in the making. ;)
Wow... your gal really good at picking up things fast!
She's real smart gal!
Frankly, we still can't be certain whether to send Marcus to international or local schools. I do have concerns that his enthusiasm for learning may be stifled at a mainstream Primary 1 classroom if he is forced to relearn what he already knows.
I see certain merits if he attends international school, esp if it is an IB programme. In fact, I am consdering withdrawing him from his current school and start him on IB prog when he turns 5. But no decision just yet.
