You Tiao - Chinese donuts







I was in the mood to make something different. Not the usual healthy low sugar, low fat, zero chemical cakes.

I did a batch of "You Tiao" and there were very well received since they were considered a rare delicacy in my household where fried food is a taboo.

I actually enjoyed it too. They went very well with a bowl of fresh hot organic soy milk for breakfast. Yumm.... I deliberately omitted the Alum called for in all You Tiao recipes. In return, I added some five spice powder to make up for the taste. It turned out great, with or without the five spice powder :)!
